Art Space G41 is a social enterprise which aims to improve health and wellbeing in the community. They offer a high quality programme of arts and creative activities that bring people together, boosting mental and physical health and wellbeing. Local parents have made requests for a children’s after school arts and crafts club. In a survey of 150 local residents, over a third indicated a need for accessible children’s creative activities. To address this, Art Space G41 are applying for money to develop a weekly free, well-being focussed arts and crafts after-school club, which encourages children to lead the activity through their own interests and stories. This will run once per week during term time. They will develop basic art and crafting skills, e.g. painting and drawing, papier mache, hand sewing and paper crafts. All sessions will reuse recyclable and household materials. The aim is to support local primary age children experiencing poverty and inequality, creating a space to develop their creativity, be welcomed and included. They will work with partners Make Do and Grow, a social enterprise focussed on supporting growing families, developing creativity and encouraging reuse. Funding request: £8,000 to fund staffing, materials, promotion and wider project costs.
